An Introduction

February 13th, 2026

Hello, and welcome to the Otherspace development blog! You may have come here from my YouTube channel, where I have been posting occasional videos of the game every time I add something I think is interesting. However, there are a lot of minor additions and commentary about the general development process that I also wanted to share, so I decided to go ahead and make a website where I could post more detailed updates on the game’s progress.

If you didn’t know, I am ultranine, the solo developer behind Otherspace. I have been working on the game in my free time for over a year now, having started it in my first semester of college. The game was initially developed in GameMaker, but I decided to switch to a custom engine a few months in due to stability issues and technical limitations. While progress has been slow due to the lack of experience and having to start over multiple times, things have begun to pick up, and development has been progressing at a rapid pace.

While the game is not publicly available at the moment, I do plan on releasing a pre-alpha demo, hopefully within the coming months. It will include the first couple of stages in the main progression path, which should be enough to give players a good idea of where the game is headed and whether the core concept is actually any good. I am going to tentatively say this demo will probably be ready by next June, but I do have a lot on my plate right now, so I may need to push this back.

For now, you can check back here for more updates, and watch for more videos on the YouTube channel. I am going to try to put a new post here biweekly showing where I am at development wise, and will put a video up anytime I want to give something special attention.
